Liberty Biomass of Philadelphia’s focus is on
renewable energy based on hybrid systems to achieve the most efficient, cost-effective and
sustainable solution for the local communities.
Through
the production of green energy, LBP will promote sustainability, foster energy
independence, safeguard the environment and promote healthy and compact
communities.
Through its Green Energy
Initiative™, LBP will introduce these clean, affordable, and renewable sources of energy to communities
across the U.S.
LBP will also introduce its Totally
Green Project™, which will educate and influence
the way consumers think play, eat, sleep, shop, worship, communicate,
and experience their dorms, businesses and homes as being GREEN.
Our proposed goals will demonstrate models of
leadership in at least five significant areas:
1.
The
production of electricity from non-fossil fuels utilizing biomass technology in
conjunction with wind, solar, hydroelectric, etc.;
2.
The
production of ethanol and co-generation of electricity from sweet
sorghum;
3.
The development of
business and academic partnerships as joint-venture opportunities with area
universities to pool
monies and create
cooperatives;
4.
The
creation of initiatives through direct and indirect collaborative agreements
together that could
reduce vulnerability to rising energy prices and limit the communities’ carbon footprints; and
5.
The
creation of jobs specifically for students of all ages, Welfare-to-Work
participants, the homeless, and the ex-offender population whose criminal
records exclude them from many forms of employment:
- Rebuilding/refurbishing dilapidated facilities
- Removing debris
- Replacing and replanting trees and other vegetation
- Establishing educational components and improving the quality and levels of involvement by residents (public schools, agriculture, and family development)
- Developing an eco-system offering energy savings, environmental awareness and other "Green Initiatives."
